Overview
The Change Canvas (previously known as "Change on a Page") provides a single view of your entire change strategy. It helps you capture key elements of your initiative, ensuring alignment across stakeholders and supporting clear communication.
It is important that the canvas has been configured so that it has fields that encourage capturing the information your change team wishes to ensure all initiatives capture.
As your archive of completed initiatives grows, this is an easily accessible and helpful archive of information about change success as well as a repository of institutional knowledge that may otherwise be lost or difficult to access.
Accessing the Change Canvas
📍 Steps:
- Go to Single Initiative View
- Click Change Canvas in the left navigation panel
How to Use the Change Canvas
1. Populate Key Information
- The Initiative Summary auto-fills from your initiative setup. Click ‘Edit Initiative’ to update these details.
- During your organization’s onboarding, it’s important to discuss with your colleagues what kinds of data or ‘fields’ should be included.
- This may include guidance around some fields being required for initiatives that are higher effort, as determined by the outcome of the Change Effort Assessment (which is an intake diagnostic that assists in creating a high level understanding of the overall level of change support required by a project prior to detailed stakeholder analysis and impact assessment being undertaken)
- Some of the default fields of the Change Canvas include:
- Vision – What’s the goal for this project?
- Implementation Approach – How will this be rolled out?
- What’s Changing & New Behaviors – Define the shift.
- Change Approach & Governance – Who manages this?
- Success Measures & Readiness – Define what "success" looks like.
- Lessons Learned – Capture insights for future initiatives.
2. Best Practices
✔ Collaborate – Work on this with your project sponsor, project manager, or key stakeholders.
✔ Review & Align – Ensure leadership alignment before finalizing.
✔ Keep it Updated – Revise as needed to reflect project changes.
