Who this is for: Admins
Set up your org chart for the first time by importing the org chart template. Do this before you import individuals, because people are placed into your org groups.
Download the template
- Go to Settings in the left menu and open Org chart.
- If asked, set up your hierarchy levels (for example Org level 1, Org level 2, Org level 3).
- Choose Import and download the org chart template.
Prepare the file
- Start from your HR system (HRIS) export. Focus on the org structure, not the individual people.
- Enter one group name per level column, from the top down. Each row is one path through your org chart.
- Make every group name unique, even across levels.
- Fill in every level in each path, and remove blank rows.
- Leave the Individuals column blank. You'll add people with the individuals template afterwards.
For what to put in each column, see Import data with Excel templates.
Import and check
- In Settings > Org chart, upload your file.
- Use the preview to check the structure, and fix any errors before you finish the import.
Same team in different locations
ChangePlan doesn't accept two identical rows in an org chart. If the same team sits in more than one location, add a level to tell them apart.
Rows | |
Not allowed | Corporate Finance (L1) › Finance (L2) › Audit (L3), Location Sydney
