Overview
The Benefits feature in ChangePlan enables you to define, track, and report on the intended value outcomes of your change initiatives. It supports both strategic alignment and accountability by clearly connecting projects to measurable results.
Benefit Types
- Strategic: Market share, innovation, growth
- Operational: Efficiency, cost reduction, compliance
- Cultural: Collaboration, engagement, behavior change
How It Works
Planning and Entry
- Go to the Benefits tab in your initiative.
- Click Add Benefit and enter:
- Title and Description
- Type (Strategic, Operational, Cultural)
- Baseline, Target, Metric, Actuals
- Owner and Stakeholder Group
- Status (Planned, In Progress, Realized, At Risk)
Monitoring Progress
- Update status and actual values over time
- Use portfolio-level benefits summary for executive reviews
- Track outcomes by stakeholder group or initiative
Configuration & Visibility
Benefit fields are configurable to match internal metrics. Visibility is role-based—initiative owners can manage, while others may view or contribute based on their role.
Use Case Example
During a CRM implementation, a benefit is tracked for “increase in customer retention.” Baseline data is collected pre-launch, and improvement is measured quarterly based on follow-up NPS and usage data.
Best Practices
- Start Early: Define benefits during business case scoping
- Assign Ownership: Ensure every benefit has a responsible person or team
- Review Frequently: Check benefit progress in governance reviews
- Use Data Where Possible: Align benefits with metrics from systems or surveys
Templates & Reusability
Maintain a library of standard benefit types for reuse across similar initiatives.
Pro Tip
Use benefits to drive prioritization. High-effort, high-benefit projects deserve resource focus and leadership backing.
