Who this is for: Change managers and initiative editors.
Managing change risks means finding the people-side risks early, rating them, giving each an owner and linking activities that reduce them. This article covers the full cycle; for the field-by-field steps, see Add a change risk to an initiative.
Add and rate risks
- Open the initiative and click Risks in its left menu.
- Click Add and fill in the Type (for example operational or psychosocial), Description and Impact level (Low, Medium or High).
- Assign a Risk owner for accountability.
- Rate how likely the risk is and how serious it would be, so you can prioritise which risks need mitigation first.
- Keep the status Open while the risk is live.
Plan mitigation
- In the initiative's left menu, click Activities.
- Add activities that reduce the risk, such as a communication campaign or training session, with + Add activity. Set the type, delivery date and target audience.
- Link each activity to the risk it addresses, so you can trace what you're doing about every risk.
- Add a + Pulse check to see how stakeholders are responding.
- Make sure each activity has an owner who will deliver it.
Review and report
- Review risks regularly and update them when the initiative's scope or progress changes.
- Close risks that have been dealt with. See Close a change risk.
- Track the activities linked to your risks in the change phase (Kanban-style) view of activities, which follows popular change management frameworks.
- Use risk heatmaps under Reports in the left menu to show which areas need attention and to share mitigation progress with stakeholders and leadership.
Why it matters
- Act early: spotting risks early lets you deal with them before they escalate.
- Targeted effort: linking activities to risks keeps every activity purposeful.
- Clear communication: reports make it easy to show leaders what you're watching and what you're doing about it.
