Chart impact type proportions by Level 1 group

Build a 100% stacked chart in Excel showing the mix of impact types each Level 1 group faces.

Who this is for: Change managers, HR and comms teams who plan engagement by team.
This Excel chart shows what kind of change each Level 1 group is facing (for example systems, process, roles or behaviours) as a share of its total. Use it to tailor comms and training by team, find blind spots in engagement, and manage expectations across departments.

Open the report

  1. Open the Change Impact Heatmap and export the full underlying data to XLS. See Export Change Impact Heatmap data to Excel.
  1. Open the file in Excel.

Set up and generate

  1. Add an Org Level 1 Group column and build the pivot table, following steps 1–6 of Weighted Impacts by Type – Per Level 1 Group. The pivot needs:
      • Rows: TYPE
      • Columns: ORG LEVEL 1 GROUP
      • Values: WEIGHTING, set to Sum
  1. Select the pivot table range.
  1. Choose Insert > 100% Stacked Column Chart.
  1. Right-click the chart and choose Select Data > Switch Row/Column, so each bar is a group.
  1. Check that the Y-axis shows percentages on a 100% scale.

Read the report

notion image
  • Each bar is one Level 1 group, split into coloured sections by impact type. Every bar adds up to 100%.
  • Compare bars side by side. For example, you might see that HR faces mostly behavioural change while IT faces mostly systems change.
  • Unlike the heatmap, which shows scores and colour thresholds, this chart shows proportions, so large and small groups are easy to compare.

How it is calculated

Each section is that impact type's share of the group's total weighted impact score, using the weightings in the export. For how weightings work, see Impact heatmap 'Weighted Impact Score' logic.

Options

To compare portfolios instead of groups, see Impact Type Proportions – Per Portfolio.

Export

Copy the chart into your slides or report, or save the workbook to refresh with a new export later.

If nothing shows

  • Check that the pivot values are set to Sum of WEIGHTING, not Count.
